Lithofayne Pridgon era un espíritu libre, una bella mujer afroamericana que empezó a codearse y acostarse con las estrellas del rock a la temprana edad de 15 años. Comenzó su periplo con el cantante norteamericano Little Willie John, quien se enamoró de ella perdidamente y al que conoció en el backstage de un concierto en el Riverside Ballroom en Springfield, Massachussetts. Pero solo estuvieron juntos hasta que se cruzó en su camino otro famoso cantante: Sam Cooke. Después su lista de conquistas se ampliaría con James Brown, Ike Turner, Marvin Gaye, Sly Stone, Eddie Hazel y el más grande de todos, el gran Jimi Hendrix. A Jimi Hendrix lo conoció en 1962, en una fiesta en Nueva York organizada por un famoso mafioso de la época. Aquella misma noche comenzaron un apasionado e intermitente romance que recobraba fuerza cada vez que coincidían en alguna ciudad. “A mí me gustaban los tipos flacos, huesudos, sexuales y de apariencia maltratada; Jimi era todo eso y algo más, en la cama era de hacer varios bises”, diría en una ocasión sobre el guitarrista. Por su parte, Hendrix se inspiró en ella para escribir algunas de sus canciones más conocidas, como “Love or Confusión”, “Can You See Me?”, “Fire” y “Foxy Lady”. Musa, confidente y amante de grandes músicos, Lithofayne Pridgon tuvo una vida larga y murió en su casa de Las Vegas el 22 de abril del 2021, a los 80 años de edad.
